"If They Speak not According to this Word"

John 4:1 warns .....

---- "test the spirits --- for many false prophets have gone out" One such Bible test is Isa. 8:19+20 "If they speak not according to this Word, there is no light in them". Vs 19 says they have a familiar spirit. SDA Believe p.223 says we're to so test Ellen White, who challenged "Are not the positions taken in my writings in harmony with the teachings of Jesus? If not, point it out to me." (Review 9, 6, 1906); stating her work was 'all of God' or 'all of Satan' and no half-way in the matter. We thus test her, compare her writings to the Bible:

Bible: "Then hear from Heaven --- only You know the hearts of men" (2 Chr 6:30)

EGW: "Heavenly Angels are acquainted with --- even the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Test IV, p. 544)

Bible: "There is one mediator --- the Man Christ Jesus" (1 Tim 2:5); "the Lamb--- is King of Kings and Lord of Lords" (Rev 17:14); "Great…are your works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are your ways, O King of the saints" (Rev 15:3; 16:5-7).

EGW: "The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty." (ms 140, 1903, Lift Him Up p.235; SDA Comt'y V 1129) "He rested not in the possession of almighty power --- not as Master of earth and sea and sky --- that power He had laid down, and He says 'I can of mine own self do nothing." (Desire of Ages, p.336 "Peace be Still")

EGW: "The Father is the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Evangelism p.614; etc.)

Bible: "In Him (Jesus) is dwelling all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Col 2:9)

Bible: "And when He had fasted 40 days and nights he was afterward hungered" (Mt 4:2) "And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended He was hungry and the devil came and said to Him --- " (Lk 4:2+3)

EGW: "As soon as Christ's long fast commenced, he was at hand with his temptations" (SP II, 90) "As soon as Christ began his fast, Satan appeared as an angel of light" (Christ our Savior 45).

Bible: "in whom also---you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise" (Eph 1:13)

EGW: "The sign or seal of God, is revealed in the observance of the seventh -day Sabbath"(8T 117)

Bible: "And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived fell --- " (1 Tim 2:14)

EGW: "Eve yielded to temptation, and through her influence Adam also was deceived". (SP IV, 352)

Bible: "For yet a little while, and He who shall come, will come and will not tarry" (Heb 10:37)

EGW: "In mercy to the world Jesus delays his coming" (GC 458) "God's unwillingness to have His people perish has been the reason of so long a delay" (1 T 194).

Jesus: "If that evil servant shall say in his heart 'My Lord delays His coming' --- the Lord will come --- when he looks not for Him --- and cut him asunder" (Matt 24: 48-51)

Bible: "But of that day and hour no one knows" (Matt 24:36) "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has in His Own power" (Acts 1:6)

EGW: "As God has shown me in holy vision --- we heard the voice of God like many waters which gave us the day and hour of Jesus' coming". (Word to Little Flock 14) nb. for mid Feb, 1845

Bible: "there is neither Jew nor Greek --- slave or free"(Col 3:11) "God shows no partiality --- whoever fears Him --- is accepted by Him" (Acts 10:34+35)

EGW: "God cannot take the slave to heaven" (GC 193) re. "white and colored people worshipping in the same building, this cannot be followed --- places of worship of their own" (9T 207, 1908)

Bible: "He made from one blood, every race (gk. pan ethnov) of men --- on all the earth" (Acts 17:26)

EGW: "Since the flood there has been amalgamation of man and beast, as may be seen in --- certain races of men". (Spiritual Gifts III,64+65; Spirit Prophecy I, 69, 78)

Bible: "the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ --- neither went I up to Jerusalem --- but to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem ". Gal 1:11-19

EGW: "Paul must receive instruction in the Christian faith --- Christ sends him to the very disciples whom he had been so bitterly persecuting to learn of them --- Jesus directs him to his agents for a further knowledge of duty --- whom God had ordained to teach the truth --- " (3T 430)

Bible: Herod Antipas at Jesus' trial (Lk 23:6-12); Herod Agrippa I who beheaded James (Acts 12:1-4)

EGW: "Herod's heart grew still harder, and when he heard that Jesus had arisen, he was not much troubled --- he took the life of James ---he took Peter also --- " (SG 71)

Bible: shows Noah's flood (Gen. 6-8) occurred before the Tower of Babel (ch 11)

EGW: "This system was corrupted before the flood, by those who separated themselves from the faithful --- and engaged in the building of the Tower of Babel". (3 SG 301, 1864; 1 SP 266, 1870).

Bible: " --- we have redemption, through His blood the forgiveness of sins. (Eph 1:7)

EGW: "The blood of Christ, while it was to release the repentant sinner from the condemnation of the law, was not to cancel sin, it was to stand in the sanctuary until the final atonement". (PP 357)

Bible: "You were redeemed --- with the precious blood of Christ --- foreordained before the foundation of the world" (1Pet 1:18-20). "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world". Eph 1:4

EGW: "The kingdom of grace was instituted immediately after the fall of man when a plan was devised for the redemption of the guilty race." (GC 347, 1888 ed.)

Bible: "God (appointed us) to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us" (1Ths. 5:9,10).

EGW: "Christ gave His life that man should have another trial. He did not die on the cross to abolish the law of God, but to secure for man a second probation". (Test-imonies to Ministers 134)

Bible: "our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement" (30 ad) (Rom 5:11+12)

EGW: "Jesus entered the most holy of the heavenly, at the end of the 2300 days of Daniel 8, in 1844, to make a final atonement --- " (E W 253; see also RH Nov 30, 1888; GC 623)

Bible: "I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions --- sins". Isa 44:22; Jer. 31:34; Mic. 7:19; Heb 8:12; 10:10-18; Acts 3:19; Ps 1 Jn 1:7+9.

EGW: "--- 1844 began the work of investigation and of blotting out of sins". (GC 552).

EGW: " (in 1844) --- I saw the Father rise from the throne --- go into the holy of holies within the veil, and sit down. Then Jesus rose from the throne --- to the holiest where the Father sat." (EW, 54 - 55)

Bible: "He made Him to be sin for us" (2 Cor 5:21) "His own self bore our sins in His body"(1 Pet 2:24) " the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all". (Isa 53:6, 11)

EGW: "sins of the righteous have been transferred to Satan --- who must bear their penalty". (GC 488)

Bible: "He has made us accepted in the beloved" Eph 1:4-6. "But now we have a far better hope, for Christ makes us acceptable to God, and now we may draw near to Him" (Heb 7:18+19 LB)

EGW: "It is impossible for you to be saved as you are --- there is a great work to be accomplished for you, before you can be accepted in the sight of God". (2T 316; 84)

Bible: "If we say that we have no sin, we have deceived ourselves --- we make him a liar" (1 Jn 1:8-10) "And when ye pray, say --- and forgive us our sins" Lk 11:2+3

EGW: "In order to let Jesus in our hearts, we must stop sinning" (Signs 3, 3, 1898) "Christ died to make it possible for you to cease to sin" RH 8,28,1894 ."To be redeemed means to cease from sin." RH 9, 25, 1900. "We need not retain one sinful propensity." (SDA Com'ty V, 1128; VII, 943)

Bible: "He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever --- by one offering he has perfected forever --- there is no more offering for sin". (Heb 10:12, 14, 18) "not redeemed with --- silver and gold --- but with the precious blood of Christ --- " (1 Pet 1:18+19)

EGW: "If a Christian has $10,000 or $20,000, God's claims are imperative upon him not only to give his proportion according to the tithing system, but to present his Sin Offerings --- to God". Test IV 467 " --- bring a trespass offering to the altar of the Lord, and He will accept and pardon you". ibid V, 339 " --- He has given His blood: He asks our silver" (ibid III 390) "Bring in your trespass offerings --- He will receive and pardon". (R&H 7, 8, 1880)

Bible: "Your money perish with you, for you have thought the gift of God could be purchased". Acts 8:20 (re. above quote)

Bible: "By His own blood He entered once --- having obtained eternal redemption for us" Heb 9:12. "we have now received the atonement" (Rom 5:11)

EGW: "Our Savior is in the sanctuary --- making an Atoning Sacrifice for us". (Fund. Chr. Ed. 370)

Bible: "which entered into that within the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus". (Heb 6:19+20; 30 AD, Heb 9:14) "Now there is No More Offering for Sins". (Heb 10:18).

EGW: "He showed us --- He must enter the Most Holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to make an atonement --- in 1844, to make a final atonement" (EW 244, 253)

Bible: "I have written that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 Jn 5:13) "If you confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe --- that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved" (Rom 10:9+10).

EGW: "Those who accept the Savior, however sincere their conversion, should never dare to say "I am saved" (COL 155) "As long as man is full of weakness --- he should never dare to say 'I am saved' RH 6, 17, 1890

Bible: "And when ye stand praying, forgive ---" (Mark 11:25)

EGW: "Where have our brethren obtained the idea that they should stand upon their feet when praying? --- I said, 'Get down upon your knees. This is the proper position always.." Ms 84b, Aug 1, 1897.

Bible: " -- in the latter times, some will depart from the faith, forbidding to marry…" 1 Tim 4:1-3 "Let every man have his own wife, and every woman have her own husband." 1 Cor 7:2;

EGW: "Brother Cudney could have done a very good work for the Master --- When married --- now he can do one third what he might have done… expenses are increased largely --- there will be not more than one-third to the cause of God that might have been --- A blessing is pronounced upon the eunechs who keep the Sabbath, etc. Isa. 56:3-5. The time has come when, in one sense, they that have wives be as though they had none." "Brother and sister E professedly gave themselves to missionary work but all the time they have labored --- as if the salvation of their souls depended on how large number of children they could bring into the world --- How much better would have been their influence if they had not been married." Bible: "Children are an heritage of the Lord --- Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them" Ps 127:3-5; "He took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed them." Mk 10:13-15.

EGW: "I was shown that Brother and Sister Van Horn had departed from God's counsel in bringing into this world children --- the enemy came in and his counsel was followed, and the cause of God was robbed --- the bringing of children into the world is more an occasion of grief than joy. The very atmosphere is polluted. Satan controls these children, and the Lord has but little to do with them We shall need a voice like John the Baptist, to show my people their transgressions, and the house of Israel their sins." Bible: " There is no salvation in any other --- no other name --- whereby we must be saved". Acts 4:12

EGW: "The light --- on health reform is for our salvation and --- the world". CDF 461

Bible: " --- you may bring in there, within the veil, the ark of the covenant: and the veil shall divide between the holy place and the Most Holy". Ex 26:33 "within the veil, before the mercy seat" Lev 16:15

EGW: "The ministration of the priest throughout the year in the first apartment of the sanctuary 'within the veil' which formed the door that separated the holy place from the outer court ---" (GC p.420)

Bible: "Which hope we have --- which entered that within the veil; where our forerunner has entered, even Jesus" Heb 6:19+20. "having boldness to enter the Most Holy by the blood of Jesus" 10:19+20

EGW: "For eighteen centuries this work --- continued in the first apartment of the sanctuary". GC 421

Ellen contradicting God doesn't end. John saw no temple in the Holy City, -- she did! She said Peter declared 'the love of Christ constraineth us'--it was Paul. She counseled to dispose of houses and lands before the time of trouble comes. Jesus said "Occupy till I come". She has the great tribulation as 1260 yrs from 538 to 1798 AD, (GC p.306).

Jesus said immediately after this time of trouble, there'd be signs in the sun, moon and stars; she said these were in 1780, 18 yrs before the time ended! John has the great earthquake when Jesus comes. She has it in 1755, 245 yrs ago, and He's still not come (GC p.304) Yet she said this time of trouble such as never was has not yet come!

Desire of Ages p. 62 / 87, ch 9 "All this displeased His brothers. Being older than Jesus --- " denies Jesus virgin birth and Luke says Jesus was Mary's first-born. To hold EGW, the SDA says they were His step brothers and Joseph had them from a previous marriage. No Bible reference to Jesus brothers says they were older, and no reference says Joseph was previously married, so to keep EGW SDA must forsake sola scriptura & is question begging.

It also redefines 'step siblings' for step siblings must at least have one common parent. SDAs suppose Joseph was Jesus' father, which also denies His Virgin birth, and allows him a fallen sinful humanity, as EGW also held. Adoptive parents don't provide step-brothers, nor are cousins such. But this view came from Origen an early Arian Catholic, who got it from Apocryphal gospels. (see Mary: A Biblical and Early Christian View', Daniel F Stamara; Catholic Encyclopedia)

EGW said 'the correct understanding of the ministration of the Heavenly Sanctuary is the foundation of our faith' (White Truth p. 69). Paul said "For no other foundation can any man lay than that which is laid --- which is Jesus Christ".

There are scores of places where she contradicts God, making their 'gospel' into 'another gospel' (Gal. 1:8-10). Each of these must be underlined with Isa 8:20.

Any Adventist who held her views were from God, after seeing all of the above needs to renounce her, and return to Jesus our mediator, and His Word as our only authority for our Christian faith and practice.
