Scriptural Steps to Set People Free
YOU NEED HELP
Recognize that you cannot proceed on your own strength, but you CAN do all things in Christ's strength. (Phil. 4:13). You must be BORN AGAIN to proceed (John 3:7). If you are not sure you are "born again", or "saved", avail yourself of this free gift from God. (Eph. 2:8,9).
Repent or turn around. (Acts 3:19,20). Confess Christ and believe. (Rom. 10:9,10).
Receive Christ by praying and asking Him to come into your life as your Savior and Lord. (John 1:12,13).
YOU MUST HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT operating in your life. This is also a free gift--ask the Heavenly Father for the Holy Spirit. (Luke 11:13).
The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth in the Bible. (John 16:13-15).
BE PREPARED FOR BATTLE
Step one is necessary because you will find yourself in a spiritual battle for the Cultist's soul, and you will need spiritual weapons to fight the enemy, Satan. (Eph. 6:10-17). The Bible is not just words on paper, but is ALIVE and POWERFUL. (Heb. 4:12).
LEARN THESE FACTS ABOUT SATAN:
The believer need not fear Satan. (2 Tim. 1:7). You can overcome the harassment of Satan the same way that Jesus did--by quoting the word of God. (Matt. 4:1-11). Christ defeated Satan at Calvary. (1 John 3:7,8). Satan has no power over believers. (1 John 5:19,20; 1 John 4:4).
LEARN WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST
Learn who you really are in Christ as a believer. (Rom. 8:1,2; 14-17). Know for a certainty that you are chosen by God, and the Father hears your prayers. (John 15:7). Avail yourself of the power that is given to the believer. (John 14:12-17).
BELIEVE THE PROMISES OF GOD
Begin by daily reviewing suitable scriptures, even repeating them out loud. (Satan can't read minds). Serve notice on Satan that you are believing God's word and that he will not have your (loved one, relative, friend) for long! If the entrapped one is a relative, the Bible says that if you are saved, your household shall be too. (Acts 11:14; 16:31). It is God's will that the entrapped one come free. (1 John 5:14,15).
PREPARE BIBLE PRESENTATIONS
Learn the scriptures that prove the errors of the particular cult, and be prepared to share these with the Cultist directly from your Bible. (2 Tim. 3:16,17). If you need helpful literature to prepare such a presentation, write to us and we will help you. "BE PREPARED"!
BINDING AND LOOSING
Before entering into any discussions with a Cultist or sharing scripture, use your authority as a Christian and put Matthew 18:18-20 into action. Get another believer to agree in prayer with you, preferably a strong Christian. Together bind the spirit of deception in Jesus' name that is keeping the cultist blinded. (2 Cor. 4:4; Acts 26:18). "Loose" the cultist to hear the gospel of truth, that it will penetrate into his heart and mind in Jesus' name.
People in cults are under a spirit of deception, and your words will not penetrate without this Divine help, not matter how well prepared you are. Don't despair if results don't appear immediately. God's word cannot go out and return without producing results. (Isa. 55:9-11). The word of God will begin working in the cultist, convicting him of his error. This takes time.
KEEP YOUR FAITH STRONG
While waiting for the promised results, your faith must be exercised. We "walk by faith and not by sight". (2 Cor. 5:7). Keep your eyes on the Lord rather than on the circumstances, and don't let your emotions get the better of you. Believe that God hears and answers prayer. (Heb. 11:1,6).
Live daily in an attitude of praise and thankfulness to God for His word and His promised deliverance. (1 Thess. 5:16-18).Remember that it is the Holy Spirit that convicts people, not us. Remember also, that God's timing is not our timing. Learn to rest in the Lord, having done all that you can do, and believe HIM for the results.
